How PondBoost contributes to future-proofing agriculture

Since 2017, PondBoost has been successfully used in the dairy industry in New Zealand. When added to manure, PondBoost enhances nitrogen binding, leading to increased grass yields with improved nutritional value and higher protein content. This, in turn, resulted in higher milk production. Following these promising developments in New Zealand, Mosmart Europe has initiated a testing program in the Netherlands to explore the effects and potential applications of PondBoost within the European dairy sector. The goal is to support a more sustainable, efficient, and productive approach to agriculture.

Reduction of nitrogen emissions

PondBoost binds nitrogen to the manure. Reduces ammonia emissions and prevents nitrate leaching.

Higher grass yields

Improved nitrogen binding in the manure allows grass roots to absorb nitrogen more efficiently. As a result, the protein, sugar, and carbohydrate content of the grass increases, generally leading to higher overall grass yield.

Better stable environment

When PondBoost is applied to the stable floor and in the manure pit it neutralizes the smell of the manure. This makes the smell disappear in the stable and during spreading on the fields.

Reduction of fertilizer use

PondBoost enhances manure efficiency by improving nitrogen binding, reducing the need for additional synthetic fertilizers.

Solid research for professional data

Following successful small-scale field trials in the Netherlands in 2024, an official pilot study will commence in April 2025. This research project is led by Wim de Hoop, former researcher at Wageningen University & Research, in collaboration with Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences. The study will be conducted at the model dairy farm of Ad van Velde, Hunsingo Dairy.

The project is funded through the Fascinating innovation subsidy program and will focus on the automated application of PondBoost via misting systems integrated into manure robots. This method allows for immediate activation of PondBoost, ensuring it settles efficiently into the manure pit beneath the barn. The study will run for one year and will examine the following key areas:

- Stable climate conditions

- Emissions from stored manure

- Nitrogen binding within the manure

- Grass yield and forage quality

- Effects on milk production and milk protein content

This trial marks an important step in validating the effectiveness of PondBoost in automated, large-scale dairy operations, with the aim of contributing to more sustainable and productive farming practices across Europe.

When can I aspect test results?

Test results will be published on the news page of mosmart.eu and regularly shared via our official LinkedIn page. By following our updates, you’ll stay informed about the latest findings, developments, and innovations related to our products.

When can I buy PondBoost as a farmer?

The full results of the ongoing trials are expected to be available by April 2026. In the meantime, we will be sharing interim updates and early insights throughout the research process. Be sure to stay connected to receive the most up-to-date information.

Where can I Find the results of the tests?

At this stage, PondBoost is still in the research phase and is not expected to be commercially available in 2025. However, we’re always open to engaging with forward-thinking farmers who are interested in being part of the development journey. Feel free to reach out to explore potential collaboration opportunities.

Is PondBoost available throughout Europe?

Currently, the test program is being conducted exclusively in the Netherlands, where nitrogen challenges are a top priority. Following the successful completion of our research, we aim to scale PondBoost across Europe, making it available to farmers and industries facing similar environmental concerns.

I’m interested in the research program. Can I get involved?
